WORKING HOLIDAY VISA
This is one of the most popular route by which the majority of Commonwealth teachers are able to work in the U.K. A Working Holiday Visa enables you to stay in the U.K. for up to two years and allows you to work for a maximum period of one year. There are no restrictions on the type of work you take or the number of hours worked other than you are not allowed to start a business or work for more than 12 months of your holiday .. You are entitled to a Working Holiday Visa provided that you are aged between 17 and 30. You will need to obtain your visa before you leave home and will have to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to be able to maintain and accomodate yourself in the U.K. without recourse to public funds N.B. without the necessary stamp in your passport, you will probably be refused entry to the U.K. Application should be made to your
nearest British High Commission. Working Holiday Visas last for two years from the date you were first given permission to enter as a working holidaymaker. Any time spent outside the UK during this two-year period is taken to be a part of the two years.
